Intensive Firesetting Treatment
Brandon Residential Treatment Center has been providing comprehensive and specialized treatment for problematic and dangerous firesetting behavior since 2001. Brandon's Intensive Firesetting Treatment Program offers a fire-safe, staff-secure environment on the Main Campus for boys whose firesetting behaviors are determined to be unmanageable in the community or in a less restrictive placement. Boys admitted to the program are provided a specialized core set of treatment services including: individual and family therapy with professionals experienced in firesetting, fire safety education and skills training, a specialized firesetting group therapy experience. Childcare staff within the program are trained in working with the particular needs of the children in this milieu and in helping parents to implement necessary supports and strategies in the home environment.Intervention services are individualized based upon the completion of a comprehensive assessment of each boy's firesetting history and other factors related to firesetting. Children, families and professionals are able to monitor progress through a five stage review system, which leads towards successful re-entry to the community or transition to a less restrictive placement.
